About
Well hello, and welcome to Tea Mouse Book Reviews.
I’m going to assume you’ve read my little bio over to the left, so you know that my name is Saskia, I like books and I’m really bad at writing summaries of myself. And after discovering these things, I’m sure you’d rather much learn about my blog than about me.
I started Tea Mouse on the 16th of September, 2008 – all the way back when I was in year 10, with one of my then (and still) gorgeous best friends, Roslyn (better known to some of you as Roz). Initially, Tea Mouse was not a book review blog, but instead a home for our general craziness. If you search back far enough, I’m sure you can find some of those really early posts (although I’d much rather you didn’t because the writing is absolutely shocking. THE SHAME.)*
Then, on October 27th, 2009 – just over a year later – Ros and I decided we’d make a change and try something new: reviewing books! We were both avid readers and while we had each other to discuss books with, we wanted more, and thus the brand new (sort of) Tea Mouse Book Reviews was born.
Over the years we’ve acquired several paint jobs, a domain name of our very own and best of all some fantastic friends.
We started reviewing for some of Australia’s most amazing publishing companies which was absolutely the most amazing privilege, and best of all we got to meet some of our favourite authors.
Things got a little harder towards the end of year 12 in 2010, and time was even thinner once we both began university. 2011 saw us both go on an indefinite hiatus and until 2013, Tea Mouse was put on hold.
Now it’s just me running the blog, and while I know that’s going to make things a little more difficult, it’s also an exciting new adventure. I’m currently deferring university (although I presently study a BA in Ancient History at The University of Sydney), working part-time (although it feels like I live there!) at a Club and trying to fit in reading and blogging with a sometimes too full social life. It’s definitely not easy, but I’m giving it a go.
Whilst blogging was something that used to be a pretty serious gig for me, I’m trying to tone it down this time around. It has to be something that I want to do, not something I feel pressured to do. This means not pushing myself into schedules I can’t keep or feeling stressed about review piles taller than my actual bookshelves.
I want to do what I love – share and discuss some of the amazing books I discover and how they’ve changed my world.
So thank you so much for your visit! If I haven’t had the chance to meet or chat with you, I’d absolutely love to. My email and other contact details are in the sidebar to your left, so please don’t hesitate to say hello. (:
And once again, welcome.

* Although some of you have known me from a LOT further back than this, and you can all only begin to laugh at some of the crazy things we’ve done and the blogs we’ve hosted. For those of you I’ve known over the years – you’re all wonderful, amazing and brilliant people and it’s been a pleasure having you in my life, no matter how far away you may be. x
